POST 2: WHAT ARE CARRIER OILS?

I am SO glad you asked! #OilNerdsLoveQuestions. Carrier oils are made from a variety of nuts, seeds and plants and help “carry” the essential oils into the skin for quicker absorption and keep the essential oils from evaporating too quickly. Also, carrier oils help to dilute oils so that you get the maximum benefit and bang for your buck. A little EO goes a long way! If you are using shampoo and body lotions that are not organic you may want to look at the chemicals in them as those too can get absorbed into your body and contribute to decline in physical and mental health–your body has to work hard to get them back out and can get overwhelmed in doing so! Using natural/organic products can help reduce toxic exposure. Pro Tip: if you have less exposure you feel better! So, what carrier oils should you use? That depends! There are a range of carrier oils that all have benefits. If you have nut allergies then you will want to avoid the nut based oils like Almond Oil. But if you don’t, then that oil is great for the skin for both you and your baby. Avocado Oil is very nourishing but is thicker and tends to be blended with either Olive Oil or Almond Oil so always check your labels if you have allergies. The carrier oil I use the most is fractionated Coconut Oil as it is hypoallergenic, costs less and feels great. It may not be the best oil for use on the face as it may cause clogged pores but I use it from head to toe with no issues and love its feel and results. You can use carrier oils with the essential oil of your choice and use it topically, for diffusing, or inhaling (I did not inhale…).
