POST 8: Hair Raising Experiences and Rats Nests
Wake up looking like your witches spell exploded and you were the fall out? We have some favored brews that will make you shine and bring your hair back to its silky best! Whether you need quick and easy (pick me, pick me!!) or you are a die hard DIY–we have the right options for you.
Easy breezy self care: Vanilla Copaiba Shampoo and Conditioner–buy it, try it, love it. A quick tip on making your shampoo and conditioner go further (you mean more than the fact I only wash my hair every 3-4 days? Yes, that’s exactly what I mean!): To take your shampoo from 10oz to 48 oz: boil 38oz water with 2tbsp baking soda and let is sit and cool off till it’s slightly warm and then add the Vanilla Copaiba shampoo together and fill one 16oz pump container (or just refill your empty shampoo bottle) and then put the rest in a 32oz jar. For extending your conditioner: boil 32oz water with ½ cup apple cider vinegar and cool till slightly warm and combine the conditioner and water and fill your conditioner bottle or 16oz pump bottle and put the rest in a 32oz jar.
Lavender Mint Shampoo and Conditioner–buy it, try it, love it! Seriously! I am not retyping the above instructions for extending your shampoo and conditioner–just swap Vanilla Copaiba for Lavender Mint and voila! You have success in a bottle and jar!
DIYers Mixers: Rosemary Mint Shampoo: in a small bowl mix together the following ingredients: ¾ cup aloe vera gel ; 3 tbsp olive oil; ½ cup baking soda; 25 drops YL rosemary essential oil; 12 drops YL peppermint essential oil. Store in an 8 oz glass or BPA free plastic bottle.
Lavender and Mint Shampoo: place ¼ cup baking soda in a clean shampoo bottle and add ¾ cups purified water and shake, shake, shake! Add 10 drops YL lavender essential oil and 10 drops YL peppermint essential oil and mix until all ingredients are well blended.
DIYers Hair Thickener: mix the following in a glass jar: 3 tbsp jojoba oil; 3 tbsp grapeseed oil; 30 drops pure YL cedarwood essential oil; 30 drops pure YL rosemary essential oil; 30 drops pure YL sage essential oil–place the lid on securely and shake, shake, shake to mix the blend. It takes 5 minutes to make and you get 8-10 uses out of it. To apply, put a generous amount onto your hair (wet or dry) and massage into your scalp and hair and leave on at least 20 minutes but preferably overnight before washing. Repeat 3x a week to get the best results.
