What is SAF-T?
SAF-T is a self regulatory/relaxation tool that quickly reduces stress responses and negative sensations (including pain), retraining and regulating the body and brain to be at ease. In as little as 90 seconds you can notice the beneficial impact of this eye movement technique.
How does SAF-T work to aid in relaxation?
The eye movements used in SAF-T engages the para-sympathetic nervous system and triggers a relaxation response in the body similar to the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) stage of sleep, where your body is at ease. Most people find the eye movements very calming and are able to rid themselves of the negative sensations they are feeling.
What can this training do for you?
SAF-T helps individuals alleviate negative sensations, physical discomfort, and pain symptoms. It is effective in reducing symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress, Depression, Anxiety and Chronic Pain and is beneficial for mood stabilization. It can be used by professionals, para-professionals, first responders, teachers, and parents, to help themselves (self care is always critical when in a helping profession) and others experiencing emotional or physical distress or other negative sensations. Anyone interested in learning self regulatory skills to help themselves and others better manage life stressors will benefit from this training.

What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy, or ART, is an evidence-based psychotherapy that fosters rapid recovery by re-programming how the brain stores traumatic memories and imagery. This brief exposure based therapy aims to resolve traumatic memory through a combination of relaxation and visualization. This approach provides effective relief from the strong physical and emotional reactions associated with post traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain and performance issues, in as few as 1-5 sessions. The treatment’s distinct features include the use of eye movements and memory reconsolidation, a way in which new information is incorporated into existing memories. Developed in 2008 by Laney Rosenzweig, ART has been used on military bases and in the VA, as well as community based treatment centers.
What training opportunities are there for therapists?
There are three levels of ART training. 1. Basic ART Training is a 3 day training that provides therapists/clinicians with the knowledge and skills to effectively implement use of ART in clinical practice. You must complete the Basic Training before going on to the Advanced and Enhanced Trainings. 2. Advanced ART Training is a 2 day training that focuses on review and practice of ART interventions that augment the Basic ART Training and includes the use of the Metaphorical Moment, Metaphorical Logic, and Metaphorical Solution. 3. ART Enhancement Training is a two day training that expands the knowledge and skill set to apply the ART protocol in a broad range of psychological disorders and diagnosis beyond psychological trauma.
Want to learn more about Accelerated Resolution Therapy? Schedule a speaking event for your organization.
This seminar will introduce and describe the biologically based model of Accelerated Resolution Therapy and serve as an introductory session on how the modality can be implemented into clinical practice and include case examples and research findings. Continuing Education (CEU’s) can be provided. For more information and to book an event visit ART International and request to book your event with Myrna Molinari, MSW, LCSW, CAP, ICADC or with Diego Hernandez, PsyD.
